Sandy River Bluegrass - Glenn Otto Park - Troutdale, Or.
To our Potential Sponsors:
The Sandy River Bluegrass Committee is excited about this new event and believe it will draw enough attention to become
an annual affair.
Our goal for this event is to attract a new audience to Bluegrass and to educate the public about local river safety
programs. Enjoy a fun-filled day of great music, water safety education, food, arts and crafts. We want people to leave
talking about the event, and with an understanding of the dangers awaiting the unprepared adventurer on the Sandy River.
Since the release of the film “Oh Brother, Where Art Thou”, bluegrass music has experienced a resurgence and has gained
in popularity, crossing age, gender and income barriers. Its wide appeal may be due in part to the fact that the music itself
varies from a traditional old-timey sound to a contemporary high energy musical experience. The River City Bluegrass
Festival in Portland is a huge success. Nationwide, enthusiasts caravan from bluegrass event to bluegrass event.
We believe that Glenn Otto Park along the Sandy River in Troutdale offers the perfect setting for just such an event.
Bands will perform on a small stage in the park, which will soon be posted on our website. Each group has a following of
their own and the respect of their peers. Pickers will be welcome in and around downtown Troutdale as our local
merchants open doors to visitors.
Parking for the event is nearby, Tri-Met Bus #77 serves the park, and the area has nearby lodging and an RV site less than
a 5 minutes walk from the event.
There will be a $10 gate charge, however children under 10 receive free admittance. We hope that businesses,
municipalities and individual citizens will recognize the potential for accessing this special audience through the
investment of sponsorship dollars which will in turn help to finance this event but more importantly provide education
about the dangers of our local Sandy River.
Sandy River Bluegrass is a 501(c)(3) - 170(b)(1)(A)(vi), committed to encouraging and promoting our bluegrass
community artists and performers while providing water safety educational venues at Troutdale's Community Park.
